175 places are available in each Year Group based on our curriculum model.

Cumberland Council administers admissions for students from 11-16 years of age in the same way as for other local schools.  Information and application forms will be made available through primary schools in September for completion and submission in October in their Year 6.  Those offered places will be notified in the following March. 

Although applications can be made for students wherever they live, priority for places will be in line with the criteria as detailed in the Admissions Policy - 180 places are available in each Year Group based on our curriculum model. 

Cumbria County Council also administers admissions for students from 11-16 years of age in the same way as for other local schools. For in-year admissions, please complete the In-Year Admissions form available below and send to the address below.  The Academy will deal with in-year applications within 10 school days.

If you prefer, you can also contact School Admissions to make an application and for more information about admissions to school and they will forward your form for the governing body/academy trust to reply to you directly.

Unsuccessful applications have the right to appeal.  If you would like to appeal, please complete the Notice of Appeal Form below and send to the Academy at the address below.

For in-year admissions, please complete the In-Year Admissions form available below and send to the address below.  The Academy will deal with in-year applications within 10 school days.

Parents and carers will be notified of their child’s allocated school.

March 2025

Parents and carers should notify the school of their intention to appeal, and request a Notice of Appeal form.  The completed Notice of Appeal form should be submitted to the Clerk to the Independent Admission Appeals Panel, Richard Rose Central Academy, Victoria Place, Carlisle, CA1 1LY

28th March 2025

Deadline for lodging appeals with the school.

4th April 2025

Deadline for the Admission Authority to provide the Clerk with a statement giving reasons for the decision to refuse admission.

2nd April 2025

Deadline for appellants to submit further evidence not included with initial appeal.

Wednesday 23rd April 2025

Appeal hearings.

Thursday 30th May 2025

Appellants to receive notification of the Panel’s decision.
